I recently upgraded my system to debian squeeze, as I couldn't be bothered to repeatedly patch and update my kernel manually in lenny. In lenny, the default kernel had no support for my wireless device hence the need for the newer kernel which did. (ndiswrapper didn't work either).

So, the upgrade went pretty smoothly, until yesterday I noticed that any java applets I tried to load in firefox/google chrome would cause the browser to crash. It appeared to be caused by the icedtea-gcjwebplugin.

So some research led me to the debian bugs site which suggested to install the icedtea6-plugin instead, and it's all working again!

Next step, get pidgin working...

OK, so pidgin was simple

OK, so pidgin was simple enough, all I did was disable and re-enable the account and it's all good :).
